I was running an errand the other day and, to be quite honest, I was under an immense amount of pressure, feeling anxious about living expenses and work situations. Then everything changed when the Lord of the universe took the time out of His awfully busy schedule to whisper such a reassuring revelation—an understanding of a particular passage that I cannot help but share with you.
God simply reminded me and helped me understand something about the rich young ruler in the Gospels. Jesus did not care about or take into consideration the vast wealth of the ruler, nor was He even remotely impressed. Jesus was primarily concerned about one thing—and believe it or not, it wasn’t his net worth! It was about the essence of who he was as a person, and where Jesus desired to truly put his wealth.
Jesus commanded him to sell all that he had to be eternally rich and have heavenly riches, but most importantly, He wanted his soul. He wanted his unwavering commitment—not a luxurious donation to His ministry, and not even an endorsement from this young ruler, who I am assuming held quite a bit of influence due to his wealth.
This revelation of God's unwavering commitment to care about the essence of who you are, rather than what you do or do not have, truly blessed me. It helped me realize that God is truly the most unchanging, always loving, and merciful God that you could ever imagine.
Praise God that eternal life is not based upon net worth, but upon trust and placing your faith in HIM!
I pray that you have a blessed and highly favored day,
Daniel Church
